Fielding teams in 16 NCAA men’s and women’s varsity sports and competing in the American Conference, the ECU Pirates are the hottest ticket in town! ECU’s beloved mascot, PeeDee Pirate, is inspired by the fierce pirates who roamed the North Carolina coast for centuries. You can’t go far in Greenville and eastern North Carolina without seeing fans donning ECU’s signature royal purple and old gold.

The school’s football team plays its games at 51,000-seat Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, affectionately known as “Rowdy Dowdy.” With a capacity of 8,000, Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum hosts the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as the women’s volleyball team. The popular ECU Pirates baseball team competes at 5,000-seat Clark-LeClair Stadium. The Pirates also field teams in softball, golf, tennis, track, and field, soccer, and more.

With over 10,000 square feet of trampolines, foam pits, dodge ball courts, and more, Air U Trampoline Park & Party Center is indoor fun at its finest. Located near H. Boyd Lee Park on the outskirts of Winterville, the facility is chock-full of obstacle courses, games, and high-flying excitement for the whole family! Offering discounts for college students and designated times reserved for toddlers, Air U is a great place to spend a rainy day, or escape the heat!

Air U is also one of Greenville’s most popular party and group event venues. Opening in 2020, Air U is expanding to include Sawyer’s Fun Park, adding laser tag, a rock-climbing wall, ninja course, arcade, café, and bar! Encompassing over 300 acres along the banks of the Tar River, River Park North is the region’s premier destination for outdoor and water activities. The Park’s annual nature photography contest brings out the area’s most enthusiastic shutterbugs. Featuring five ponds, two piers, a wildlife observation platform, hiking trails, numerous campsites, picnic shelters, a fossil pit, and much more, River North Park is the perfect place to get your nature fix!

The Park also houses the Walter L. Stasavich Science and Nature Center, with a 10,000-gallon freshwater aquarium, turtle touch tank, live snakes, and countless opportunities to learn about and interact with nature. Blue Heron, Osprey, Yellowthroat, Indigo Bunting, Bald Eagles, Blue Grosbeak, a variety of ducks, and more all call the area home and make River Park North a mainstay on the North Carolina Birding Trail.

Spawning from the first annual Women’s Club Arts Festival in 1935, the Greenville Museum of Art has grown to welcome over 17,000 annual visitors in a captivating Uptown colonial brick building. With a mission to foster and promote the arts in the eastern North Carolina community, the Museum prominently features rising local artists and hosts a variety of educational programs, lectures, and events throughout the year.

GMOA features permanent collections of North Carolina pottery, classical and contemporary art, a rotating series of exhibitions from Freeman Vines, Dewey Funkhouser, and more. Available to rent for parties and gatherings of all kinds, the Museum will add a touch of class and sophistication to your next special event. The Museum also sells dozens of prints showcasing their prominent works, with all proceeds going to support the arts in Greenville.
